In 2009, the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) announced their intention to adapt Roald Dahl's spellbinding story Matilda into a musical. Australian comedian Tim Minchin was approached to write the music and lyrics for the show. The funnyman thought the call from the RSC was a prank as he had tried to adapt Matilda for the stage ten years previously, but couldn't get the rights to do so. The show originally debuted in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 2010, before making an amazing transition to the West End a year later where it has gone on to break records.

This show is recommended for a general audience. As an advisory to adults who might bring young people, the show is suitable for ages 6+. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

Matilda The Musical runs for 2 hours 40 minutes (including a 15 minute intermission)
